THE GATHERING PLACE
At Connecting Neighbors, we believe food has always had the power to bring people together. Throughout history, people gathered around long tables, open fires, and shared work. They grew food together, prepared it together, shared traditions, celebrated culture, and cared for one another. Those moments built relationships, strengthened communities, and created a sense of belonging.
Our long-term vision is to create a permanent Gathering Place where neighbors of every age and background can come together to share meals, celebrate cultures, learn new skills, and build lasting connections.
We envision a place with gardens, fruit trees, animals, and welcoming gathering spaces where families, children, seniors, and community members can experience hands on learning and meaningful community engagement. Schools could visit to explore where food comes from, learn about agriculture and sustainability, and gain an appreciation for the diverse cultures and traditions that enrich our community.
The Gathering Place will also provide opportunities for local farmers, gardeners, chefs, artisans, and community members to share their knowledge through cooking demonstrations, gardening, cultural celebrations, storytelling, and educational workshops. It will continue Connecting Neighbors' mission of bringing people together through food, culture, education, and meaningful community engagement while connecting neighbors with local resources, volunteer opportunities, and community partners.
This vision will take time, partnerships, and the generosity of people who believe in creating something meaningful for future generations. Every donation brings us one step closer to creating a place where everyone is welcome, every culture is celebrated, and every neighbor has a seat at the table.
